Dear Cobra Rooter Clients,

A Letter From Jake & Joaquin — Founders, Cobra Rooter

There was a time when a plumber's name on the side of a truck meant the man who owned the company was the one under your house with a flashlight and a pipe wrench. Today across America, that same truck usually belongs to an investment firm in New York, and the "family tradition" is just a script written by marketing consultants. It has become strangely common in our industry to build a beloved local reputation, trade it away for a corporate check, and then—once the non-compete expires—pop back up in your mailbox preaching the gospel of small-town values.

Some things in this life simply shouldn't have an acquisition price.

For the past twenty years, we chose the longer, quieter road. While Jake was up in Oklahoma City mastering the unforgiving physics of aging sewer lines and underground infrastructure, Joaquin was putting tens of thousands of highway miles across the Austin–San Antonio corridor, learning every quirk of the region's plumbing. We didn't spend our careers studying profit margins or exit strategies; we spent them in trenches, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms, earning our trade one honest call at a time.

A few years ago, we finally managed to step away from the tools for a rare family break out in San Diego. Sitting on the coast, looking back over two decades on the truck, we realized something troubling: the trade we loved was quietly losing its soul. Homeowners everywhere were being treated like line items on a balance sheet, pushed into costly full-system replacements when a straightforward repair would have given them years of peace of mind.

Right there, we made a pact. We didn't need outside capital, corporate boardrooms, or glossy mailers apologizing for past sellouts. We just needed to do what we did when we first broke into the trade twenty years ago: stand shoulder to shoulder as brothers, answer our own phones, and treat every home like it belonged to our own kin.

That is the foundation of Cobra Rooter.

  • We don't pop into your living room to oversell you equipment you don't need, and we sure as hell don't pop out on you the second a warranty expires.
  • We don't report to shareholders, we don't push sales quotas, and we will never look at your home as an exit strategy.
  • Around here, if a line can be cleared, we clear it. If a pipe can be saved, we save it. And when our name is on the work, our word is the only contract that matters.
With sincere respect,
Jake & Joaquin
